Fleuri's Additive-Free Promise

Our products are not only designed to be "good" for your skin but also prioritize "gentleness." We carefully select ingredients, mainly plant-derived, that are gentle enough for sensitive skin and even babies’ delicate skin. Since these products are for daily use, we are particular about each and every ingredient and formulate only essential ingredients for the skin. In this blog, we will explain our commitment to additive-free products. You may be surprised to find additives in your daily products. Let's take a closer look together and compare them with your products.

✖ UV Absorbers

UV absorbers are compounds that prevent sunburn by absorbing UV rays and converting them into heat. While this may seem good for skincare and makeup products, the heat generated on the skin can cause inflammation, irritation, and other skin problems. It is also believed to increase the production of free radicals and contribute to accelerated skin aging. These may be mitigated by washing and reapplying the products frequently, but it is not always practical in daily life. In order to prioritize skin safety and health and to avoid unnecessary stress, we do not include UV absorbers in our products.

✖ Artificial Colors

Artificial colors are synthetic dyes used in cosmetics and skincare products to give vibrant colors. However, studies have shown that it can penetrate the skin and interact with protein cells, thus potentially causing pigmentation over time. It also leads to the risk of uneven skin tone and damage due to prolonged exposure. You may notice that our products are clear and very simple, but this is one of the keys to enhancing your skin's natural radiance without unnecessary additives.

✖ Mineral Oils

Petroleum-derived mineral oils are commonly used in products due to their stability and ability to prevent oxidation, which helps to maintain product quality over time. It also creates a thin layer on the skin surface to lock in moisture and protect against dryness. However, sulfuric acid and other chemicals are basically used in the petroleum refining process. While advancements in technology have minimized safety concerns, mineral oils still lack the ability to truly enhance skin health in a holistic way. For this reason, we choose environmentally friendly, plant-derived oils such as olive oil and jojoba oil, which not only nourish the skin but also support its natural barrier function.

✖ Petroleum-Based Surfactants

Petroleum-based surfactants are often used in cleansers to remove sebum, makeup, and dirt due to their strong cleaning power. However, compared to plant-based or amino acid-derived surfactants, these are much more irritating to the skin. These surfactants can bind to skin proteins and cause damage to the skin, potentially leading to skin irritation and inflammation. We do not use petroleum-based surfactants because if they are not washed off and remain on the skin, that can lead to skin problems.

Did any of the additives we mentioned seem familiar in your everyday skincare products? You may not pay close attention to the ingredient lists, but it is important to consider how certain additives may be affecting your skin without realizing it.
